At 18 years old, Perla answered the call and enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving our country for four years. She continued serving the military community as a military spouse for 25 years and later carried that commitment into education as a former Leander ISD teacher. She is also the mother of three LISD graduates.

Her service continued in the community.
Perla has spent years working with students, teachers, parents, school programs, and community organizations. Since 2019, she has advocated for Texas students and families before school boards, superintendents, legislators, the Texas State Board of Education, and state leadership.

She understands the classroom.
She understands parents.
She understands military families.

And she understands that leadership means showing up when the mission matters.
Our schools need trustees who will put students first, respect parents, demand accountability, protect educational opportunity, and prepare the next generation to become responsible citizens and leaders.
Perla has already served her country. Now she is stepping forward to serve her community.
That commitment to duty, family, education, and country reflects the values we believe in at Veterans for America First.
