For Moyers, this endorsement begins with something deeply important to VFAF.
Veterans need a seat at the table, an open door, and a legislator willing to listen long enough to understand the problem before trying to solve it.
Moyers says Ramos has made that commitment.
“Veterans do not all come home facing the same challenges. Sometimes the problem is healthcare. Sometimes it is housing, employment, benefits, family support, senior care, or simply trying to navigate a government system that was never designed with the individual veteran in mind. Liz understands that. She wants to hear the details, understand what that veteran is actually going through, and determine what can be done at the state level to help solve it.”
That willingness to listen matters to VFAF.
Too often, veterans are celebrated at ceremonies and remembered in speeches while the specific problems affecting them receive far less attention when policy is actually being written.
Moyers says Ramos has committed to maintaining an open door for Texas veterans and giving their concerns serious attention in the Legislature.
Ramos is the Republican nominee for Texas House District 135, an open seat covering portions of northwest Harris County, including the Cypress and Jersey Village area. She ran unopposed in the 2026 Republican primary. 
Her background is rooted outside of elected office. Ramos is a native Houstonian who has helped build and manage a pediatric medical practice since 2007. Her work has included budgeting, staffing, operations and patient care, giving her direct experience with the kinds of financial and operational decisions faced by families and small businesses every day. )
She has also spent years involved at the grassroots level. Public records identify Ramos as a precinct chair, and in 2026 she served as **Chair of the Senate District 7 Temporary Resolutions Committee**, participating directly in the process through which grassroots Republicans develop and advance policy resolutions. She has also hosted community based conservative forums in the Cypress area.
For Moyers, that background is important because state government should not become disconnected from the people it represents.
Grassroots leadership means listening before speaking. It means knowing the families, veterans, small businesses and communities behind every piece of legislation.
Ramos has also made property taxes and parental authority central parts of her campaign. Her stated platform includes a multiyear proposal aimed at eliminating property taxes through reductions in government spending and changes to consumption taxes, while opposing a state income tax. She has also emphasized giving parents greater authority in decisions affecting their children. 
But for Veterans for America First, this endorsement has a special focus.

Moyers believes Texas needs lawmakers who understand that veteran policy cannot be reduced to a slogan or a single piece of legislation.
It requires listening.
It requires follow through.
It requires someone willing to ask a veteran, What is happening, what do you need, and what can Texas do about it?”
That is the standard Moyers says she expects from elected officials who want the support of Veterans for America First.
“Veterans stood up when this country called. When they need their state government, someone should stand up for them. Liz Ramos has made it clear to me that her door will be open, that she wants to understand the individual problems our veterans face, and that she is willing to work toward solutions at the state level.”
