VETERANS FOR AMERICA FIRST ENDORSES JOSHUA JAMES LAWRENCE FOR NEW MEXICO STATE AUDITOR

Lawrence, whose full name appears in New Mexico election records as **Joshua James Ryan Lawrence**, is the Republican candidate for State Auditor in the November 3, 2026 general election.
This race is about something every taxpayer understands.
Where did the money go?
The New Mexico Office of the State Auditor is responsible for examining the finances of more than 1,000 public entities and investigating allegations involving fraud, waste, abuse, and misuse of public resources.
In announcing the endorsement, Moyers and VFAF point to accountability, transparency, fiscal oversight, and careful stewardship of taxpayer dollars as central issues in the race.
Lawrence has publicly discussed increasing transparency, examining government spending, improving efficiency, and using the Auditor’s Office to identify waste and abuse.
For Veterans for America First, accountability in government begins with a simple principle.
Public money belongs to the public.
The citizens of New Mexico deserve to know how their tax dollars are being spent, whether government programs are delivering what was promised, and whether public officials and agencies are meeting their responsibilities.
The State Auditor occupies a unique position in that process.
The office follows financial records.
It examines government operations.
It identifies problems.
And when evidence of waste, fraud, or abuse exists, it has a responsibility to bring those issues into the light.
Veterans for America First believes government accountability and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources are consistent with the organization’s stated **America First principles of transparency, responsibility, and government that answers to the people it serves.**
For those reasons, Veterans for America First has endorsed Joshua James Lawrence for New Mexico State Auditor.
