Seventeen years is too long to wait for judgment.
Too long for an empty chair to gather dust. Too long for wounds to become scars. Too long for our military community to carry the memory of the morning when a terrorist infiltrated our ranks, betrayed the uniform, and turned his weapon against American service members on American soil.
Fort Hood was not merely a place on a map. It became a cry of resilience in the heart of the United States military.
Now the watch is approaching its end.
President Donald Trump has approved the execution of former U.S. Army Major Nidal Hasan by Army firing squad for the November 5, 2009 attack at Fort Hood, Texas. Hasan was convicted of murdering 14 people and attempting to murder 32 others. Among the dead was Pvt. Francheska Velez, who was pregnant with her first child. Veterans for America First remembers that unborn child as the fourteenth life taken that day. We will not erase that child from our remembrance simply because of the left narrative. A baby in the womb is life.
Hasan was convicted by a general court martial in 2013 and sentenced to death. President Trump has approved execution by firing squad following the recommendation of Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. When the sentence is carried out, it will be the first U.S. military execution since 1961.
Veterans for America First fully supports this decision.
Without reluctance.
Without apology.
With absolute resolve.
For nearly seventeen years, the families of the dead, the wounded, the survivors and their brothers and sisters in uniform have watched this sentence crawl through the military justice system.
Judgment is approved.
What happens next should send a message.
Freedom does not survive because Americans speak beautifully about it. Freedom survives because generations of Americans have been willing to stand between those who seek to destroy it.
Hasan wore the uniform of the United States Army.
He betrayed it.
Fort Hood was the post. It was their workplace. It was their military home. The men and women inside that Soldier Readiness Processing Center were preparing to serve their country when a terrorist in disguise attacked.
Hasan later described his attack as retaliation for American military operations in Muslim countries.
Veterans for America First will not reduce Fort Hood to a random act of workplace violence as the left portrays.
We regard it as terrorism directed at American service members.
That matters.
An American military uniform carries an oath. It represents trust between warriors standing to their left and right. To wear that uniform as a costume is beyond betrayal. It is beyond individual crime.
Our enemies should understand something from what comes next.
If you challenge our resolve, we will meet that challenge with all prejudice and with total ultra-violent measures with overwhelming exacting force. America will not hesitate. America will not apologize. When America’s warriors are attacked, the answer must be decisive, overwhelming, and unmistakable. Our liberal friends with policies of appeasement weaken this force and choose terror over Americans.
Justice has teeth.
Give him no quarter.
When Terror Strikes, we act fast and fall like a lightning bolt.
The people murdered at Fort Hood did not volunteer to become symbols. They were sons, daughters, husbands, wives, parents, friends and fellow warriors.
Pvt. Francheska Velez was only 21 years old and pregnant.
Her child never received the opportunity to take a first breath.
That life matters to us.
All of them matter.
The American flag under which those service members served was carried before them by generations who crossed oceans, stood frozen watches, flew into enemy fire, walked hostile roads and fought in places most Americans will never see.
That flag means something.
It represents service.
Sacrifice.
Honor.
Hasan forfeited any claim to those honors when he betrayed the uniform.
Veterans for America First therefore calls for his execution to be broadcast to the American people. After seventeen years, this final act should not disappear into silence.
Let America witness the consequence.
Let our adversaries see their doom.
The country has spent seventeen years witnessing the aftermath. The families lived it. The wounded carried it. The military community remembered it. There should be no mystery when the sentence is finally completed.
And afterward, no American flag should cover him.
No honor guard.
No salute.
No military honors.
No Name.
No Rank.
No markers.
Straight to the pit of Hell and then to dust!
The flag belongs to Americans who carried it faithfully, not to a terrorist who betrayed the oath beneath it.
There is a profound difference between the warrior who falls defending America and those who seek to destroy it!
We should never blur that distinction.
To the families of Fort Hood, no execution can return the people they loved. There is no sentence capable of restoring a husband, daughter, brother, friend or unborn child.
We now await the Secretary of the Army to set the time and place. President Trump has approved the firing squad, but the execution date remains for the Army to determine.
When that order is finally carried out, let every terrorist and every enemy watching understand the sound of the shots. They are your future!
You cannot wound America.
You can make our families grieve and you will have no family.
You can force our warriors to carry scars but you will not live to ever have any.
But do not confuse the passage of time with forgetfulness.
America remembers.
Seventeen years later, the Fort Hood terrorist faces his final destination.
He betrayed his country, and he will leave this world without a country.
The victims will be remembered.
Terrorist will face judgment.
We are resolute.
